GCCA - FAO ENR CSO Network Partnership
Provision of capacity building services for mainstreaming Climate Change into the sub-County development plans in Luweero district.
Knowing that adaptation can improve well-being outcomes while at the same time reduce vulnerability to future impacts by increasing the ability of people to withstand change and cope with adverse effects associated with climate change, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) supported by the European Union is implementing the Global Climate Change Alliance – Uganda: Agriculture Adaptation to Climate Change.
FAO in collaboration with the Environment and Natural resources Civil Society Organizations Network (ENR-CSO) has granted EMLI approx. USD 11,000 for a period of June – December 2016 to provide capacity building services for district local governments, non-governmental organizations and the private sector towards strengthening stakeholder coordination and mainstreaming Climate Change into the sub-county development plans of Kikyusa and Kamira in Luweero district.
The initiative seeks to establish a district Climate Change Task force, support the development and operationalization of climate change mitigation and adaptation plans, sensitize sub-County technical staff and political leaders on climate change adaptation and mitigation, popularize community based adaptation to climate change and document good practices and lessons learnt on climate change adaptation among the established farmer field schools.
